Websites Designed For Viewing The Location of Vehicles
There are websites that are designed specifically with the purpose of displaying the location of a vehicle or person tracked by GPS tracking. If you have GPS tracking you can view the location and additional information by logging into a secure website.
For example, say you have a vehicle tracking system fitted to every car and van in your fleet. You would login to the website using your username and password. You could then view a map with each of your vehicles marked on it as an icon in the location that they are currently in.
Often these icons are colour coded to let you know what state they are in; stationary with the engine off, stationary but idling or moving. The icon will often indicate which direction the vehicle is moving in.
These websites are designed with fleet tracking in mind. They display all sorts of information which will be useful to the modern fleet manager. Such information could include vehicles which have been idling excessively, drivers which have been known to speed repeatedly, drivers that are known to repeatedly excelerate and generally drive in uneconomical manner, the fuel consumption of each vehicle and many other useful gems of information.
Exactly what each tracking website displays depends on the vehicle tracking system its self. Stolen vehicle tracking systems are not designed to extract so much information about the vehicle as their main purpose in life is to locate vehicles when they are stolen. Therefore the websites that display the information about the vehicle tends to be much more limited.
