MyWi (reviewed here) has been updated to work on iOS 4, and has received a number of major improvements in the process. This new version is only available on the Rock App jailbreak store, though.

New features include live battery usage indicators, option for a status bar icon instead of the giant blue bar, and speed and battery usage enhancements. You can also choose to tether by USB, bringing the total number of tethering options in MyWi to three (alongside Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethering).

This update doesn’t come for free, though. A new license has been bumped up to $20 from the previous $10 asking price, but previous 3.xx owners can upgrade their licenses for half of that cost. This makes MyWi one of the priciest apps I know of, but it can also save you quite a lot of money by avoiding the cost of a rip-off tethering plan.

The Dev Team has some good news for some iPhone and iPod Touch users who want to update to iPhone OS 3.1.3 and keep their jailbreak. It looks like their latest redsn0w jailbreak app release is still safe to use with firmware 3.1.3 on certain older models. Here’s the summary, provided by the guys at iPhone in Canada:

The iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G are safe on firmware 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9.
The iPhone 3G is safe on firmware 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9 BUT only if you do not care about unlocking your iPhone 3G.
The iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G, and iPod Touch 3G are NOT safe on firmware 3.1.3. Stay with 3.1.2 if you want to be able to jailbreak and/or unlock your device in the future.

The Dev Team is also stressing the following: Don’t go near this if you have 3GS, newer ipt2G, or any ipt3G.
