With the release of iOS 4 – the next big operating system update for the iPhone – just a couple of days away now, app updates to support the new OS version seem to be coming thick and fast now.
Just last night I installed updates for three favorite apps that added iOS 4 support – Dropbox, Evernote, and Pastebot.
Here’s hoping that we’ll soon see the vast majority of good apps updated to support the new OS. I’m already running the GM build of it, but

Weighing at only 1.1Kg, the new Onkyo C413 comes jam packed with an Intel Atom N450 processor, a 1GB RAM, a 160GB HDD, a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 glossy display, a 0.3MP webcam, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Microsoft Windows 7 Starter. Too bad, this netbook only has a 3-cell battery that provides up to 2.5-hour of operation time. The Onkyo C413 also provides a VGA out and USB ports.

Right now, Apple is pretty much dominating the internet sconce. Thanks mostly to the iPad which totally changes the whole web experience, their decision to not support Flash has actually made some websites conform to being iPad friendly (as opposed to the iPad being made to be more compatible with existing websites). You can get phone deals for all Apple phones at Moby1, including Apple iPhone 4. If you compare these deals you can even find mobile phones with free gifts.
However, Apple’s days of web domination are numbered with the announcement that many new tablet devices are coming. Sure, they will not be as spiffy or as stylish as the iPhone, but these devices will come armed to the teeth with functions and more importantly, Flash support.
The move would also see the same apps being developed on other platforms, but at least it will not be on the iPhone OS. It has even been said that Android devices were being handed out to former Apple developers in order to show them the vast potential of the open source Android mobile platform.

The tech industry is pretty much under the heel of Steve Jobs –theoretically at least. In many ways, the messiah of Apple is proving to be quite the lord of chaos in terms of burning bridges and tossing people aside. You can find the best mobile phone deals for Apple phones at Best Mobile Contracts, including mobile phone with free gifts deals and iPhone 4 deals.
Before we head straight into the main scoop, here is a quick recap of what we know is on Jobs’ rap sheet. First off, the man just took sucker punch at Adobe by officially preventing developers from using the new Flash Professional CS5 program for developing iPhone applications. Several weeks ago, Apple also filed an infringement lawsuit against HTC, there are 20 hardware and software patents involved in the case –most of which target Android handsets. Just a few days back, Jobs has reportedly fired an employee for revealing the iPad 3G to Steve Wozniak two minutes earlier than planned.
Well, sounds bad does it not?

The iOS 4 GM was released to developer accounts yesterday, and we have a few impressions of our own to share before the firmware is officially released on June 21. Patrick’s coming from the perspective of a totally new 4.0 user, whereas I’ve been on the beta for the last few weeks and have a few longer term thoughts to share.
Patrick
- Restored straight to it from Jbed 3.1.3
- Setup as new phone, not from backup
- GameCenter not live yet? (Edit: goes live this September, though you seem to be able to create accounts)
- First thing I miss is SBSettings – so dumb and annoying that services toggles are still buried couple layers into Settings
- Like that Caps Lock is on by default – tiny thing but nice

Looks like iPhone accessory vendors have got a good jump on the new iPhone 4 – I’m already starting to see a lot of news on new cases and other items for the new model. Today I was interested in Gear Diary’s quick run-through of some of Case-mate’s new cases for the iPhone 4.
I especially like the Firenze Case shown above which is described thusly:
The iPhone 4 Firenze is a soft leather pouch with a perfect combination of quality, functionality and sparing design. Featuring premium napa leather with perforated leather accents and a tab closure, the iPhone 4 Firenze will keep your iPhone 4 stylishly protected at all times.

Take one lesbian nun, a scythe, six upgradeable weapons, hordes of undead, and some of the smoothest visuals I have ever seen on the iPhone, and you’ve got yourself a solid $2.99 action title in the form of Twin Blades.
If you’re into mindless zombie destruction coupled with incredibly stylish action (and don’t mind a bit, well, a lot of repetition), then Twin Blades will deliver in spades.
Story Mode
There isn’t really a story mode. The story was introduced in the 1.1 update to Twin Blades, but almost no effort was spent actually writing anything interesting. Twin Blades’ story tries to give you a decent reason for wanting to fight the zombies, but once you start swinging your scythe around all, of that other stuff becomes irrelevant (yes, even that brief mention of the fact that this nun is a lesbian). This game is all about killing, upgrading your gun, and then killing some more.

Despite its upset loss last year in a head-to-head battle with a stone, the iPhone has rebounded this year to easily outpace Space Travel in a UK consumer survey on the 100 most important inventions of all time. The iPhone finished 8th (trailing things like the wheel and the light bulb) while Space Travel was way back in 39th place.
Also trailing well behind the iPhone were: the steam engine, cars, pain killers, and the mobile phone (is there a maybe a chicken and egg situation here?), as well as motorways, chairs, and sliced bread.

[Edit: Based on new information from reader feedback, this may simply be a dialogue related to pirated apps, though I still find the part about "discounted price" curious.]
All I have is this screenshot from @digeratii (RT’ed by @stroughtonsmith) and although I can’t absolutely guarantee its authenticity, I see no major reason anyone to just make this stuff up. If the above screenshot is real, we might see paid app upgrades very soon (if they haven’t been implemented already).
